Token Authentication

HelloControlDesk uses a token-based authentication model instead of username and password combinations. When you subscribe, your dashboard generates a unique license token tied to your subscription. This token is the only thing needed to authenticate a connection between server and client machines.

The key advantage is that no account credentials ever touch your devices. If a machine is compromised, an attacker cannot extract your HelloControlDesk account password from it — only a revocable token. You can manage and regenerate tokens from your dashboard at any time, instantly invalidating old ones.

Both the server and client machine must use the same token to establish a session. This shared-token model ensures that only authorised machines on your network can connect, adding a layer of access control on top of network-level security. Combined with TLS encryption, token authentication makes HelloControlDesk safe to run on shared office or home networks.
